Hermitage

Inspiration:  This time of year I love admiring the bird nests in our yard. When you see them up close, it's incredible how much craft goes into their intricate designs. The idea of a bird's nest also reminded me of an old, abandoned hermitage I once saw while hiking in the Adirondacks of upstate New York with my parents. Binge-watching the show "Alone" taught me how challenging these humble structures are to build and live in—especially throughout the winter! I liked the idea of these two similarly crafted homes, made of twigs and earth, living next to each other as neighbors in a dense forest.
