Mythical Beasts

Inspiration: My Mythical Beasts creations are inspired by a pair of 100-year-old children’s sketchbooks I found at an antiquarian book show. Two brothers had used their books to invent and then describe fantastical creatures (much more imaginative than mine!). Last month I attended a Penn lecture & creative workshop on monsters and other strange creatures found painted into the margins of medieval manuscripts. After examining some examples, we were invited to paint our own Mythical Beasts. I crafted these characters and gave them names and descriptions.
