Take Me With You

Take Me With You

by Lisa Molina

An Ekphrastic poem based on the painting “Wheatfield with Crows,” by Vincent Van Gogh, Netherlands, 1890

Oh,

flying/floating/flock

of crows

disappearing over

the Rumpelstiltskin

gold I see before me;

Are you real?

Why can you not

come down to earth

to take this

mind of visions

which I never know

to be real or imagined,

and carry it on your wings

so that I may rise

above this life

of dirt roads

leading me to

nowhere but madness?

I yearn to

fly/floating/forever

above this

wearying/waning/world/within

up to the

swirling/spinning/

golden/glowing/

starry night,

my spirit absorbed

by the silver

glowing orb.
